UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Requirements

The UK CAA has stringent requirements for drone pilots to ensure safe and responsible flying. Our pilots are certified under two main categories: Open Category and Specific Category.

Open Category

For low-risk drone operations, our pilots meet the following requirements:

• Flyer ID and Operator ID: Our pilots are registered with the CAA and hold valid Flyer IDs.
• Drone and Model Aircraft Code: We strictly adhere to the Drone Code for safe and responsible flying.
• Visual Line of Sight (VLOS): Our pilots always keep drones within their visual line of sight.
• No Flying Over Crowds: We avoid flying over people who are not involved in the operation.
• Maximum Altitude: We never fly above 400ft (120m) when operating in the open category (if needed, we treat the operation as specific category and submit an OSC).

Specific Category

For higher-risk operations, our pilots meet these additional requirements:

• Operational Authorisation: Our pilots have obtained Operational Authorisation from the CAA.
• Risk Assessment: We conduct thorough Risk Assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
• Operational Safety Case (OSC): For operations beyond pre-defined risk assessments, we submit an OSC to obtain additional authorisation.
