SkyCam recently had the pleasure of working with a local Artist ‘Ian Mood’.

Ian Moods grandfather was also a local artist and painted scenes in and around Stoke-on-Trent back in the 70’s. However due to illness his grandfather was unable to paint outdoors for any long periods and therefore took some photographs of local scenes with the intention of painting them at a later date in the comfort of his studio. Unfortunately, he sadly passed away before he had the chance to start the work.

Ian has now picked up the baton and is going to complete the work his grandfather started, but instead of using the photos taken back in the 70’s as a reference he would paint the view as it is today. To capture the scenes as they are today is where SkyCam and a drone came in.

Since the photographs were taken, Stoke-on-Trent has changed dramatically.

Instead of the industrial smoke laden vista it was in the 70’s Stoke is now an amazingly green city. In fact we would even go as far as saying it must be one of the greenest cities in the country.

Whilst flying the drone to capture the shots required it was plain to see just how green Stoke-on-Trent really is. Using the drone was in fact essential as the vantage point that Ian’s Grandfather originally captured is no longer available as trees have grown to block the view, which is not a bad thing.
